Dear Mr. & Mrs. Wolff,
My family and I own a ranch in Llano County. We have always day hunted because we can control which weekends we want hunters to be on our property. For the last three years, we have been under a game managment program with our neighbors where we have limited the number and size of bucks killed and tried to cut down the ratio of does to bucks to improve the herd. The last two years we have hunted bows only. I like the idea of hunting just bows because I think over-all bow hunters are better hunters willing to work with us on our management goals. I am seeking a few good men (or women) that would be interested in hunting the 2004-05 hunting season (bow or regular season, Oct.-Dec). I can accommodate 2-4 day hunts, (Fri-Mon), with a minimum of 4 hunters/hunting party, bunkhouse, treestands, feeders provided. Deer/Turkey $150/day/hunter. Off-season Hogs/varmints $100/day/hunter. Call 325-622-4642 Thomas Davis for more information. Thank You.

Thomas, The HCB thanks you for posting and thanks for the respect you have given to the bow hunters. Being an ex rifle hunter I will agree that bowhunters are much more selective in their harvest and in game management. I also believe they respect the ranch owner, his property, and his ideas of game more than other hunters. I am sure some HCB members/guest to our site may have questions. I will list a few regular asked questions.
1. How many acres is the ranch?
2. What are the rules for harvest?
3. Some hunters would rather set ground blinds.(Portable pop-up) Is this permissiable?
4. Where at in Llano County?
5. Are there penalty cost?

Roy

Roy,
We have about 300 acres of rolling, oak hills. We will allow each hunter to harvest a deer per day they buy, with a limit of l buck per hunter and the rest does. If you would rather use your own blinds or stands that is fine, you and your group (4 or more hunters) are free to hunt the place as you like.
We are in the northwest corner of Llano County in the Valley Spring Community off Hwy. 71 on County Road 408. If?, we set a slot for this year and a hunter kills a buck in the slot, there will be a $500.00 premium assessed. Since, we are in the forth year of our program, we may not have a slot this year, but just limit each hunter to l buck only, the rest must be does. We will know more about the slot after we do our count in August and September of this year.
Thomas
